What the Global Forum announced

On 14 September 2026 the OECD Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes published a news item stating that Argentina has committed to implement the Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework (CARF) and to start automatic exchange of information on crypto-asset transactions by September 2029.

The same item says that with Argentina’s commitment, 77 jurisdictions are now committed to implementing CARF by 2027, 2028 or 2029, and that the Global Forum will monitor Argentina’s progress while its Secretariat supports implementation.

How this sits next to our CRS/CARF timeline piece

Our separate article on the CRS and CARF 2027–2028 timeline summarises the Global Forum commitment-list cohorts. This piece records Argentina’s named commitment and the September 2029 start target from the Global Forum news item.

Boundary on citizenship-by-investment

Argentina’s citizenship-by-investment announcement remains not currently open on our programme register, and we do not market that programme. This article is about tax-transparency commitments only.

What this does not mean

Exchanges under the commitment have not started. Individual tax residence and filing duties are unchanged by this summary alone. This piece is not legal, tax or immigration advice.

What this does not mean

  • It does not mean exchanges have started; the commitment is to start by September 2029.
  • It does not change any person's tax residence or reporting duties by itself.
  • We do not market Argentina's citizenship programme; that register row remains not currently open.
